Naviga Bolsena

La mia estate alla scoperta di nuovi posti italiani continua. Ricordate il mio post dedicato ai laghi vicino a Roma che ho visitato durante le mie gite fuori porta quando vivevo ancora nella capitale? La scorsa settimana ho avuto l’occasione di fare un bellissimo giro sul Lago di Bolsena, il quinto più grande d’Italia ed il primo di origine vulcanica in tutta Europa. Sono otto i paesi che si affacciano sul lago di Bolsena tra cui la caratteristica Capodimonte, località dalla quale è partito il mio tour con Naviga Bolsena.

Il nostro tour della durata di circa un’ora e mezzo è iniziato sulla tipica imbarcazione in legno chiamata Lucrezia insieme al nostro skipper Stefano che ci ha guidato tra le meraviglie del lago di Bolsena illustrandoci tutte le sue peculiarità. È un lago tutto da scoprire e la cosa che più fra tutte mi ha affascinato è la presenza di due piccole isole: Bisentina e Martana. L’unico modo per poterle vedere da vicino è con un tour del lago che ti permette di ammirare le loro bellezze.

L’Isola Bisentina è stata eletta residenza estiva Papale diverse volte ed è caratterizzata da sette chiesette e dal convento di San Giacomo e Cristoforo. Invece, l’isola Martana (chiamata così perché prende il nome dal paesino Marta) è più piccola e conserva i resti della Fortezza in cui Teodato fece imprigionare e uccidere la Regina Amalasunta, figlia del Re dei Goti Teodorico. Entrambe le isole sono private e non visitabili, ma con un tour Naviga Bolsena è possibile osservarle da più vicino.

In tutti i tour (sia quello che dura un’ora che quello di 40 minuti) è prevista la sosta bagno nei pressi dell’isola Bisentina. Nuotare nelle limpide acque del lago ammirando la bellissima vegetazione sul suo fondale non è una cosa che capita tutti i giorni e per me è stata un’esperienza unica. E se non sapete nuotare o avete paura non temete perché Stefano e il suo staff sono pronti ad aiutarvi a scendere in acqua anche con galleggianti e salvagenti per non perdere questa opportunità. Durante il percorso da Capodimonte alle due isole è stato bello poter ammirare i vari tipi di uccelli presenti sulle rocce delle due isole ed anche i resti vulcanici che ricordano l’origine del lago di Bolsena. I colori blu del lago si fondono con quelli della ricca vegetazione che caratterizza le due isole.

Sul sito Naviga Bolsena potrete trovare tutte le informazioni necessarie per il vostro tour del lago. Nel periodo estivo ci sono due partenze giornaliere, alle ore 11.00 e alle 16.30. Tutte le spiegazioni durante il tour vengono date anche in lingua inglese, per facilitare i tanti turisti stranieri che anno dopo anno si recano in questa zona del Lazio. Inoltre, l’imbarcazione Fenice, la più grande, è anche disponibile per feste ed eventi privati.

Dopo il tour del lago potrete rilassarvi sulle spiaggette di Capodimonte e godervi il panorama.

My discovery of new places in Italy continues during this summer 2017. Do you remember my article about the lakes near Rome? This time I had the chance to visit Lake Bolsena, the largest volcanic lake in Europe and the fifth largest lake of Italy. Around the lake there are 8 particular and characteristic villages and one of these is Capodimonte. Here you can leave for a journey with Naviga Bolsena around the lake discovering its beauties.

The tour lasts about one hour and half on a typical boat with the skipper Stefano who is the perfect guide who tells youl all the stories of the lake and its island: Martana and Bisentina (during the tour all the information are given in English too). These two islands are the most fascinating thing of Lake Bolsena. They are both private islands and the only way to admire them closer is by boat with a tour of Naviga Bolsena. Bisentina island is the biggest and was chosen to be the summer residence of the Popes in various eras. It has seven oratories, the convent of St. James and St. Christopher. Martana island (the name comes from the village called Marta) is the smallest and there are the remains of the fortress in which queen Amalasunta,  who was the daughter of king Theodoric of the Goths, was imprisioned and killed.

During every tour (both the one of 1 hour and the other of 40 minutes) there is the possibility to swim in the limpid waters of the lake admiring the beautiful greenery at the bottom of the lake. It was an unique experience for me! Even if you are afraid or you can’t swim, no problem because Stefano will help you with life vests to enjoy the beautiful waters of the lake. While sailing towards the two island you can enjoy the beautiful view of the lake and the villages over it.
